How can I request a tax exemption?
How can I request a tax exemption?
Updated over a week ago

This article applies to Midjourney subscribers associated with a tax-exempt organization that's paying for their subscription. We cannot modify the tax status for individual users. If you're an individual user, you can read more about how taxes are determined for your subscription here.

When Subscribing

Look for the "I'm purchasing as a business" box at checkout. This will reveal fields where you can enter your tax ID (such as an EIN if you're in the United States, a VAT number for VAT countries, etc.). It will appear automatically on your future invoices.

Our payment processor will attempt to validate your tax status and automatically apply any appropriate exemptions.

If you don't see this option, or if our payment processor can't verify your tax status, billing support can update your account after you subscribe and refund any taxes you were charged.

After Subscribing

Request a tax exemption or reverse-charge status by sending an email to [email protected] with the following information:

  • The full name on your account

  • Billing email address

  • Physical billing address

  • For VAT countries: Your company's VAT number

  • For non-VAT countries: Documentation of your tax-exempt status, like a tax exemption certificate or other document issued by your local tax authority

The billing information on your subscription must match the information listed on your exemption document. If we can confirm your tax status, we'll update your account and refund any taxes you've been charged in the current calendar year.

Please note billing support can't make manual changes to your tax status until after you've subscribed. Tax exemption requests may take up to two weeks to process. We cannot make changes to any past invoices, but your updated information will be reflected on future invoices.
